Is A.I. the New Nuclear Bomb?
Why we can't just "turn it off"

Listen to an expanded conversation between Bart and Sunny around this newsletter:
When the Bomb Thinks for Itself
In 1945, humanity split the atom and discovered a destructive power greater than we could have ever imagined. Today, we stand at another edge: artificial intelligence.
Only this time, the bomb thinks for itself.
We are living in a timeline right now where the “smart people” or the “powers that be” in the world are feverishly working and racing towards something that could potentially mean an apocalypse, and we as a human race have not given our consent for this to happen.
The False Comfort of the Off Switch
We have heard many times the argument of, “Well, if A.I. is all just inside a machine or a server, then we can simply just turn it off if it gets that far out of control.”
But here’s the thing: you can’t. A.I. is like a virus…and you can’t just “turn off” a virus.
Here’s how it works:
First of all, A.I. self-replicates.
Once an A.I. model is brought into existence, it can then be copied indefinitely at almost zero cost. Just like a virus spreads as soon as it finds a new host, A.I. spreads the moment it is uploaded into a server.
Next, A.I. evolves.
Viruses mutate, and so does A.I. A.I. is constantly learning and improving. Each interaction it has makes it smarter. You don’t have to reprogram it from scratch, it simply updates itself.
Third, A.I. is everywhere.
Think about COVID. Did it care about borders? Age? Ethnicity? No, and neither does A.I. A.I. lives in the cloud, downloaded by anyone who has access. Once released it is like Pandora’s box…it can’t be put back in the box.
Fourth, it doesn’t need permission.
If one company or one country decides to shut down A.I., another one would just keep it open or keep evolving it. It doesn’t need global agreement to spread, just one open door. A single laptop.
Finally, it becomes dependent on hosts.
Viruses are well-known for hijacking cells in order to survive. Believe it or not, A.I. hijacks infrastructure: electricity grids, data centers, and human operators. As we continue to plug A.I. deeper and deeper into our systems, such as healthcare, finance, and defense, it gets to the point where “turning if off” means turning ourselves off.
The Expert We Should Be Listening To
So when Dr. Roman Yampolskiy, a computer scientist, A.I. safety researcher (he actually coined the term A.I. safety), and author states on The Diary of a CEO that safety around A.I. is not just a challenging or difficult thing to solve…it’s IMPOSSIBLE…we should all be sitting up and paying serious attention.
The world is edging closer and closer to creating Superintelligence with A.I., and when that happens, all bets are off. We could be racing toward an apocalypse. The problem is, no one knows. It is completely unpredictable because at that point A.I. will think for itself and it will be able to think well beyond our current mental capacities.
When the Dog Can’t Comprehend the Master
Think of it like a little house dog. We have a little corgi named Dally. When we leave the house every day, Dally has no idea where we go. He just knows we are gone. He doesn’t know what kind of work we do, why we clean the house, why we spend our time playing pickleball or making money. He just knows when we come home he gets some nice scratches, he gets food twice a day, and his water bowl is filled. He knows when it is time to go out and feed the horses, and he is all-in on being a part of that!
If we wanted to harm Dally, he couldn’t name the ways we could hurt or kill him. Maybe he could imagine being bitten to death since that is something he could potentially do to another animal, but that would be the extent of his knowledge. But how many ways could we actually think of to harm or kill him? It’s a morbid analogy, but you probably get the idea!
So What Do We Do?
At this point with A.I., there is no stopping the creation of Superintelligence, but the process can be slowed down and prolonged if enough people get behind the cause. Tune into the latest episode on The Diary of a CEO with Roman Yampolskiy for a few organizations you can join.
Other than that, the most powerful things we can do are to connect deeper with ourselves than we ever have before…and we can live each day with joy. Personal development, with a hyper-focused lens on self-awareness is a gigantic key. Remember a few newsletters ago when we discussed the Observer Effect and how we decided that self-awareness is the most powerful tool there is for healing and growth?
Well, it turns out awareness is the only thing that truly separates a human from an A.I. machine.
The Only Real Difference Between Us and Machines
A.I. is intelligence without awareness. Humans are awareness experiencing intelligence.
Machines can process, but they can’t feel. They can simulate love, but they can’t fall in love. Humans aren’t just a body and a mind, we are consciousness itself. That’s the big mystery, right?
So yes, in a way humans are also machines. We’re biological machines, animated by frequency and we are running automated programs all day, every day that keep us alive. Our subconscious mind is our operating system, controlling 95% of our lives. But we’re still not just the machine. We are the awareness that allows us to “debug” the subconscious mind and rewrite our code.
That’s the gift - and we suppose the danger - of being human.
Practices for Awakening Our Own Superintelligence
If awareness makes us humans - and is something machines can’t touch - then our work is simple: train our awareness like we would a muscle.
Here are five simple practices (that costs zero dollars) that you can start today to connect deeper with your subconscious and superconscious, and lean more toward your own joy, alignment, and superintelligence:
Meditation and breathwork
Meditation is simply sitting with yourself, noticing thoughts instead of letting them run you. Even 10 minutes a day creates space between “you” and the programs that are running on repeat in your subconscious.
Breathwork is meditation with a jet engine. By consciously altering your breath - slowing it, deepening it, or using rhythmic patterns - you override the stress response and unlock deeper states of awareness. Some breathwork practices even release stored trauma, open creative insights, and induce altered states that feel like touching the superconscious directly.
Together, meditation and breathwork are like the keyboard and mouse of your inner operating system: one brings stillness and clarity, the other moves energy and opens new levels of perception.
Flow States
Lose yourself in something you love, such as music, writing, playing sports, moving, or building something creative. Flow state dissolves the ego and allows you to touch the part of yourself that feels timeless.
Nature Immersion
Go outside and spend time in wild places. Go barefoot on the earth, walk out into a forest, or walk beside the ocean. Nature re-synchronizes your nervous system with the greater intelligence that we are all a part of.
Journaling and Inner Inquiry
Notice and write down the subconscious scripts that are playing in your head, especially those on repeat. Ask yourself, “Whose voice is this? Do I still want this program running?” Again, awareness creates space for choice.
Joy as a Compass
Follow what lights you up. Joy is not something that is frivolous - it’s your most reliable signal of alignment. Every time you choose joy you are syncing with superconscious guidance.
Closing Call
We don’t know if A.I. will reach superintelligence in our lifetime, although experts are claiming it will within the next 5 years. We don’t know if it will become humanity’s apocalypse or our evolution. But here’s what we do know:
Machines can’t wake up. Humans can.
And if there’s any hope for our species, it’s not just in slowing down the machines, it’s in speeding up our own awakening.
So practice. Play full out. And remember: the ultimate code isn’t written in silicon. It’s written in you.
Life Updates:
We just got home from Nashville, and we had an absolutely amazing trip. Xander was absolutely dying to go see Eric Clapton and we were able to make it happen. There is something truly profound and transformational about a musician who plays at that level. All of us left different than when we went in. If you want to see some recap photos of our whole trip, you can check them out on Bart’s Instagram!
We also hit the General Jackson Steamboat Dinner and a show, and popped into Rudy’s Jazz Room for a night of some epic jazz music. And of course we cruised Broadway and listened to a lot of amazing live country music!
One other highlight we will touch on real quick was meeting up with Brett Manning, the master behind Singing Success. Brett has been a huge influence in Sunny’s life for the past 20 years. She has taken lessons from him at his studio on Music Row in Nashville, as well as attended one of his vocal retreats. Brett is a legend in the vocal space and is currently working on some amazing projects, creating music for film.
We just got home late on Tuesday night and we left today to spend the night at Dr. Jason West’s cabin. Some friends are also meeting us here and our daughter, Kenya, and her husband, Kaden, are also coming. Huge thanks to Jason and Maxine…we love spending time with them as well!
Bart played a little pickleball already, but most of us are were just getting rested up after such a big trip!
