Authenticity Isn't a Personality - It's a Practice
The most authentic thing you can do is evolve.

Listen to an expanded conversation between Bart and Sunny around this newsletter:
Authenticity vs. Comfort
Everyone is chasing authenticity… but most of us confuse it with comfort.
The Magnetic Identity Shift
In our Magnetic Mastermind, we teach about how to create a personalized Magnetic Identity that allows you to bypass all of your limiting beliefs and step into the highest version of yourself at the moment of activation. When it matters most.
Bart taught this from stage at the last Funnel Hacking LIVE event… and we always get the question, “Yeah… but if you are just “pretending” to be someone else, that’s “fake,” isn’t it? You’re not being authentic, you are being a fake person. Or… you’re just bullshitting everyone.
What If You’re Not Faking - You’re Evolving?
And honestly, it’s a good question! If you don’t understand the psychology behind creating a version of yourself that is everything you want to be…. then, understandably, you can look at it as fake.
But here’s are the questions we invite you to consider, especially if you are of that mindset: so, if you are not using your voice, if you are hiding, if you aren’t playing as big as you can, if you aren’t stepping onto a stage or into whatever is calling to you…. that is being “authentic?”
“This is just how I am.”
“That’s not me.”
“I’m not the type to….”
Let’s be honest here: those are just emotional habits in disguise.
Default Personality or Intentional Character?
Real authenticity isn’t about staying loyal to your familiar patterns. We’ve been taught that character is fixed. That it is a set of personality traits we were born with - and to be authentic, we need to stay loyal to those traits.
But what if that is a lie? What if the most authentic thing you can do is evolve?
Being authentic is about choosing - on purpose - who you want to be, and then showing up that way, before it feels natural. That is not being fake, that is being intentional. Because here is the kicker: your current personality? It was most likely not created intentionally. It was created based on your culture, your environment, and your past. It’s basically a “default” personality.
The Gym Analogy You’ll Never Forget
Imagine this: you decide you want to go to the gym and get all toned up. Well hold on now… you’re not currently toned up! That’s not you! You can’t do that because that is not who you are!
What in the world? We never look at our external appearances that way, but for some reason we beat ourselves up to death internally for wanting to step into something different than we are.
Creating an intentional personality - defining and shaping your character - is a wonderful and vital act of love. It is authentic to the core.
What You Admire is What You Already Are
“If you admire something in someone else, it’s because it exists in you. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to see it.”
Neuroscience has shows that we have mirror neurons, which are cells in our brains that fire not only when we perform an action, but when we see someone else do it. That’s why you flinch when someone stubs their toe!
But here’s the deeper truth: you cannot mirror something you don’t have potential for. You only resonate with what already lives inside of you! That’s why, when you start building your Magnetic Identity (or who you want to be in the world) and intentionally choose traits like boldness, bravery, leadership, or grace - it’s not because you’re pretending to be someone else. It’s because your soul is trying to remember who you’ve always been.
And here’s what we’ve seen over and over again:
No two entrepreneurs ever choose the exact same traits.
Why?
Because what you’re drawn to isn’t random - it’s a reflection of what’s already coded inside of you, waiting to be activated.
The Acorn Already Knows the Tree
A tiny acorn holds the full blueprint of a towering oak tree - roots, branch, leaves, and all. But you’d never look at an acorn and say, “This could never be a tree.”
And yet, that is what we do to ourselves. We discount the power of what is already encoded inside us, just because we haven’t seen it bloom yet.
The traits you admire - resilience, boldness, charisma - they aren’t goals. They are your true nature, waiting to be watered.
Your Turn
Where in your life are you calling something “authentic” when it’s actually just familiar?
What trait do you admire in others that you’ve been afraid to activate in yourself?
If you were designing the future version of yourself - on purpose and with total freedom - what would you choose to embody, starting today?
This Isn’t Faking It. This is Playing Full Out.
You don’t need to “fake it ‘til you make it.” You just need to wake it ‘til you shape it!
Playing full out doesn’t mean being perfect. It means showing up on purpose. It means choosing to lead with the version of you that is aligned with your vision, not your history.
That’s not pretending.
That’s power.
Life Updates:
Hmmmmm…. let’s see! We are halfway through The Comfort Crisis: Embrace Your Discomfort to Reclaim Your Wild, Happy Self by Michael Easter in our I Do Epic “Book Club” - it is a phenomenal book about how to expand your life by intentionally making yourself uncomfortable (aka - get out of your comfort zone)! Highly recommend!
Bart has roped on his horses a little bit this week. Getting them all ready to attend I Do Epic LIVE with us!
We’ve played a little pickleball here and there… as a family and we were subs for a league last night!
Other than that, we have been pedal to the medal for our upcoming I Do Epic LIVE event. We hosted a live call on Thursday to connect with the amazing people who are coming and to give a rundown on what to expect and how to be prepared for Idaho weather.
What’d you think of this week’s newsletter? 🤔
